Privacy Policy for RideNote

Last Updated: January 22, 2026

Overview

RideNote is a local-only mountain bike setup tracking app. We don't collect, transmit, or store any of your data on external servers. Everything stays on your device.

What This Means

We don't have:

  • User accounts
  • Login systems
  • Cloud sync
  • Analytics tracking
  • Crash reporting servers
  • Advertising networks
  • Third-party SDKs that collect data

You control:

  • All your bike information
  • All your ride setups and notes
  • All your photos
  • All your checklist items

Everything is stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's built-in SQLite database.

Data Storage

What's Stored Locally on Your Device:

  • Bike names and photos you add
  • Baseline tire and suspension pressures you enter
  • Ride setups you log (date, trail name, settings, feedback ratings, conditions)
  • Notes you write
  • Checklist items you create
  • Any photos you attach from your camera roll

What's NOT Stored Anywhere:

  • Your name
  • Your email address
  • Your location
  • Your device information
  • Your usage patterns
  • Anything else about you

Photo Access

When you add a bike photo or attach a photo to a ride note, RideNote requests access to your photo library. This is handled entirely by iOS. We:

  • Only access photos you explicitly select
  • Store selected photos locally in the app's private storage
  • Never upload photos anywhere
  • Never access your photo metadata (location, date taken, etc.)

No Network Activity

RideNote works completely offline. The app:

  • Does not make network requests
  • Does not communicate with external servers
  • Does not require an internet connection to function
  • Will never transmit your data anywhere

The only network activity would be if you choose to check for app updates through the App Store—which is controlled by Apple, not us.

No Third-Party Services

We don't use:

  • Analytics services (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
  • Crash reporting (Crashlytics, Sentry, etc.)
  • Advertising networks
  • Social media SDKs
  • Cloud storage providers
  • Any other third-party data collection tools

Your Control

Since all data is stored locally on your device:

To back up your data: Use iCloud Backup or iTunes Backup. This backs up RideNote along with your other apps. This is controlled by Apple's backup system, not by RideNote.

To delete your data:

  • Delete individual bikes, setups, or notes within the app, OR
  • Delete the RideNote app from your device to permanently remove all data

To export your data: Currently not supported (coming in future update). Your data remains in the app's local database only.

Children's Privacy

RideNote does not collect any data from anyone, including children. We comply with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) by not collecting any personal information.

That said, RideNote is designed for adult mountain bikers and is not specifically targeted at children under 13.

Changes to Privacy Policy

If we ever introduce features that collect data (e.g., optional cloud sync, crash reporting), we will:

  1. Update this privacy policy
  2. Notify users within the app
  3. Make any data collection opt-in only
  4. Never enable data collection by default

International Users

RideNote stores all data locally on your device, regardless of where you are located. There is no international data transfer because there is no data transmission at all.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, you have rights regarding your personal information. However, since RideNote does not collect, store, or share any personal information, these rights are not applicable. There is no personal information for us to access, delete, or share.

European Users (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have rights regarding your personal data. However, since RideNote does not collect, process, or store any personal data on external servers, GDPR does not apply. All your data remains under your exclusive control on your device.

Contact

If you have questions about this privacy policy or RideNote's data practices:

Email: support@ridenote.co.za
Website: https://ridenote.co.za

Since we don't collect data, we can't identify you in our systems. But we're happy to answer any questions about how the app works and how your data stays private.

Summary

The Short Version:

  • We don't collect any data
  • Everything stays on your phone
  • No servers, no tracking, no accounts
  • Delete the app = delete all your data
  • We can't see your data because we never receive it

That's it. Simple and private.
